It is sometimes said that we regret not so much what we have done over the course of our lifetimes, but rather what we didn’t do, and it is this same philosophy that I try to live and work by. Ideas have no concept of timing, and we are not always given a second chance, so it is our job to be ready and to make time to turn ideas into reality when the opportunities arise. A storm-wrecked beach and a crumbled walkway provided the occasion to create something new in March of 2010 when I found hundreds of shoes washed up and scattered along the coastline, and decided to collect and display them. Perhaps someone else had thought of doing the same thing before, but until that moment nobody had actually done it.
